Safe and precisely controllable pain relief

Without fear

Everyone knows the feeling. For many patients a trip to the dentist is not an easy one. If larger procedures are planned, the fear of the dental visit grows further. Fear, a certain unease and an uncomfortable feeling in the face of an upcoming dental appointment is a reaction that many people experience.

With anxious patients, particular attention should be paid to individual advice and to treatment options that allow minimally invasive procedures. New diagnostic methods lead to greater safety and enable procedures that are gentler on the tissue. Both aspects play an important part in an anxious patient's personal decision. For a sensitive patient, the gentler, more minimally invasive approach means less treatment trauma, less pain and faster healing with fewer complications.

Thanks to precise, controllable pain relief there is no longer any reason for the fear that in the worst case leads to avoiding the dentist altogether. Pain relief can today be dosed exactly and safely. A local anaesthetic can ensure freedom from pain during a procedure. Patients feel only the touch of the instruments; they hear the sounds of treatment and perceive their surroundings. For more complex procedures and for sensitive patients who are afraid of an intervention, sedation - twilight sleep - and general anaesthesia offer further ways of switching off awareness. Sedation alone promises stress-free treatment for anxious patients. It combines calming and pain relief: patients remain responsive but are put into a kind of twilight sleep and experience the procedure without fear, relaxed and calm. Sedating a patient is less demanding than a general anaesthetic. Which method is best is decided individually in each case between practitioner, patient and, where appropriate, anaesthetist. During general anaesthesia patients are monitored by an anaesthetist, who also ensures safe postoperative care.
