Basic requirements for successful implant treatment
In principle, dental implants can be placed at almost any age. The exception is children and adolescents in the growth phase: growth must be complete before implant treatment. There is no upper age limit.
Besides normal wound healing capacity and general health, the basic requirement for implantation is a supply of bone that is sufficient in both quality and volume. The jawbone must have adequate height, width and density in the relevant section of the jaw in order to hold the implant securely. If the bone volume is not sufficient for placing an implant, the formation of new bone can be stimulated, or the deficit can be made up with the patient's own harvested bone.
