Bounded gap, one or more teeth missing within a row; the gap is always bounded by teeth on both sides.

Scissor bite, a bite in which the incisors overlap like the blades of a pair of scissors, the upper incisors covering more than a third of the lower ones.

Mucosa-borne denture, a denture whose base rests on the mucosa.

Mucosa, the delicate, well-supplied, mucus-secreting lining of hollow organs in the body, for example in the nose, mouth, lungs and digestive tract.

Sedation, the damping down of pain and awareness.

Sinus lift, the term for a surgical procedure in dentistry. The floor of the maxillary sinus is raised surgically and the space created beneath it filled with the patient's own bone and/or bone substitute material. The procedure is generally carried out to obtain sufficient bone volume in the upper jaw for implants to be placed. implants

Immediate placement, placing an implant directly after a tooth is lost.

Inpatient treatment, treatment carried out in hospital; the opposite of outpatient

Bar, serves as a retaining and supporting element for a removable partial denture. Made of metal and rod-shaped, it is fixed between two crowns, and the partial denture clips onto it.

Sterilisation, the process of freeing instruments and materials of living micro-organisms. Viruses, spores and micro-organisms are killed.

Subgingival, lying below the gum or gum margin on the tooth. gingiva
